The weather has been oddly dreary out here in Northern California, but we did get a couple of nice days of Memorial Weekend and I went out to a local lake to enjoy it.

I blogged about it over on my new NorCalCanoeing website here: http://www.norcalcanoeing.com/?p=80

Did anyone else get out to enjoy the holiday on the water?

I wish. There were so many people crowding the lakes and rivers….all of them with a beer in hand, we opted to stay home and grill out. I wanted to use the smoker, but it is so dry here with no rain for so long, they have a ban on all outdoor cooking except propane. Oh well. Glad y’all had a great time. Nice photo.

Randy – That’s an awesome photo…looks like a good trip.

I didn’t get out in the canoe but I did get a little photography in while visiting New York City

Agro- I stayed away from our creeks to avoid the beer barges. It’s no fun playing bumper-boats with a bunch of 10 man rafts filled with drunks. I do like drinking though.

Cool shots James!  Not many people shooting with a leica these days.  Is it one of the newer digitals, or old school film?

Good to hear you still have your canoe.  I thought I read that you were selling it on the facebook page???

We get the beer barges down the Lower American River when the temps heat up, but the water is too cold for them still right now (incredibly mild year so far).  Most of the lakes I frequent don’t have the beligerent drunks though.  They tend to go to the ones you can power boat on, while I tend to go to the ones limited to hand power or a 15 mph speed limit.
