Trek-Meat

I recently purchased a Wenonah Northfork.  I got a good deal on it becasue it had a small defect.  I didn’t think it would cause much of a problem so I thought, “What the heck”.  Now I’m looking for advice to see what problems this defect could cause.

When you have the canoe flipped over so the bottom is facing up, right about where the back persons feet would be, there is an indent.  If you are sitting in the canoe, there would be a bump upwards so your feet would be on top of the bump, higher than usual.

The bump is roughly the diameter of a womens basketball and probably dents in about a 1/2-3/4″ total.  It is very smooth with no rough edges.  You may not even notice it if you were just glancing at it.

Does anyone have any idea what this “indent” will do to the canoe tracking and turning in the water?

Probably won’t have all that much of an affect.  The best way to tell is to go out and paddle it :-)

Another defect on some canoes .. gunwales with sharp edges which cut hands and ropes.

Is the dent in the center of the canoe? If it was big enough of a dent and it was only on one side of the canoe I suppose it would pull the canoe to that side and affect the tracking.(Although you could always put another matching one in the other side of the hull to even it out :) )

Sounds like it’s a pretty small dent that even if it does affect it at all it would be too small to even notice. And hey for saving a bunch of money that sounds alright…
