I was looking for some piece of mind at work, just searching the net for some trip reports to read and bring me back to the river just for a little while, and ran across this site. I really enjoyed reading and checking out the photos, figured I was obligated to join. I had no choice.

I’m from the wilds of Texas and have been canoeing for the last 17 years. I knew it was for me the first time I went out in a buddy’s aluminum canoe and haven’t gotten out yet. I have my own canoes and kayaks now, and take the family to the river every week, somewhere. Today, Feb 1st, my son and I celebrate the anniversary of his first canoe expedition in 2009, he just turned seven at the time. He took the bow and I took the rest. We hit the lower Pecos River. I figured this was the best time and place to give him a shot at being a “Big Kid”. I now know the feelings all you Dad’s had, that first canoe trip with just you and the kid. Proud isn’t even the word for how I felt. It was our day. I’m there right now.

Anyway, back to work,  I hope to get to know all you fellow canoeist more and enjoy all the great reading. See you on the river somewhere.

The Edrinaline Expedition

One Hundred Years from now
It will not matter what kind of car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
how much money was in my bank account
nor what my clothes looked like.
But the world may be a better place because
I was important in the life of a child.

It’s great to meet you. We need some fresh tall tales if we are going to survive until spring comes around.

Thanks for the welcome. And believe me, i’ve got some tall tales. I’m a treasure trove of “What not to do”. Talk to y’all later.
