Looks cold out on the river. Quite a trip, it’s always cool to meet people doing stuff like that. |

These guys were super cool. They weren’t doing it for any other reason than because it was there. I have a lot of respect for these guys. I hope they update the blog or here soon I kind of miss them. |

Hey all! Thanks for following our adventure! Just got time for a quick update from New Madrid, MO. It’s gotten a littler colder but well within temps we were expecting. We were just expecting them about 800-900 miles upriver.. This part of the river is remote! After Cairo, IL we paddled for about 70 miles without seeing anything but towboats and a farm or two. Not one single cabin, fisherman or hunter. For now we are trying to stay warm and dry and are enjoying the hell out of ourselves. Take care! |

Memphis should be a great stop. There is a visitor center right on the river (well maybe a little behind mud island at the South end) and from there you should be able to take a streetcar or shuttle bus up to Beale St. for some Blues, beer and BBQ. You will probably want to have someone meet you at one of the parks along the riverfront if possible. |

Looks like a great trip! Always something I’ve wanted to try…but not sure if I’ll ever be able to set aside the time to do it all at once. Maybe after my daughter is out of high school, but she won’t start pre-school until next fall, so… |

Well we finished up the trip on the 29th of december. We are not back up in the twin citites and trying to figure out a trip for the future. The trip was amazing. We had so many great experiences along the way. I will try to post some of the better pictures in the next couple of days.

Thanks Bryan. I was hoping to have a much more in depth trip recap, as well as some pictures of the trip done by now but unfortunately post trip life as gotten in the way and we have both been far too busy to get it done yet. I am also about to head to Alaska to guide this summer so the project may be postponed until this fall. Either way, I will post something here as soon as it’s done. |

I was sure tempted to Canoe from Hannibal to the Gulf Thursday, but i was a little uneasy about the ice. Which is of course what i was running from… The Cold Weather! Congatulations on your accomplishment!

Sounds like fun! I thought we were supposed to get hammered with snow and ice on Thursday but nothing much seemed to happen here in St. Louis. |

After almost two months of being excessively busy I finally have some time to write! I hope to recap the trip in much greater detail than we were able to during the actual trip. Here is the beginning of the recap: http://uwca2gulf.blogspot.com/2010/02/trip-recap-leaving-minnesota.html Pictures will follow. |
