Over the past few months I’ve been helping develop the charity called “Paddle to Haiti.”  We hope to raise $50,000 to donate to an affiliated organization, the Lambi Fund of Haiti that has people working hard on the long-term recovery of Haiti’s population.  Starting September 3rd (this coming Friday), seven others and myself will be canoeing the entire 2,320 miles of the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca, Minnesota down to the Gulf of Mexico.  We’ll be on the river for around two and a half months, and stopping in nearly every city.

While we have put a large amount of time into Paddle to Haiti and our crew is strong.  But we welcome any comments, criticisms, ideas, or advice about everything from fundraising to website design to sponsorship to good things to cook while on a canoe trip.  Tell us about your experience.  Connect us with friends or relatives along the way that might be able to give us a place to sleep, an “in” with the local paper, a shower or advice about the river.

We can be reached email at PaddleToHaiti@gmail.com
Please take a gander at our website: http://paddletohaiti.blogspot.com

Thanks for the support!

Awesome! You will have a blast.  I hope you have a marine radio for contacting tows and the lock operators.  If you don’t have one yet you should try and pick on up before you get to Minneapolis.  Good luck!
