Nope .. that guy and I don’t even know each other Randy. And as far as hitting below the belt, the site owner-moderator of the forum was setting was near-criminal examples regarding safety, and absolutely abolishing free speech no matter how polite, well informed, substantiated, whatever .. she just could not tolerate a difference of opinion. I was doing a public service thing and letting the advertisers know their money was being horribly misused when I contacted them. Besides, she used some pretty offensive language towards me and I resented it. |

I have been canoeing and kayaking my whole life with no injuries as well. I respect saftey first and foremost just like most of us here do, and put those same respects into my children so they will grow up knowing the right way and the wrong way. My kids know when they exit they vehicle, the pdf’s go on, no questions, even if we have to spend half an hour unloading etc, that’s just how it goes or they don’t go. (They are 7 and 9 and have been paddling their whole lives) Most of us on these types of forums are not “new guys” to this great sport, that’s why you may see that resistance that’s been happening. I can tell you feel extremely strongly in your heart about saftey and other issues and I 100% repect that, because I do as well. I do feel a lot of people are stuck in their ways and won’t change, but if they are doing it safely then who cares how they are doing it and if it conforms with what certain books or people say. I don’t agree with all that you have said paddleplacid, because I don’t have to. It’s your opinion, and it’s my choice, and i’m not going to fight to the death to prove i’m right or better or whatever and more importantly, fight just to prove you’re wrong. I don’t have time for that, I do enjoy this forum, and have become friends with some members I would have never known in this life had I not come in here. I want to hear about your experiences, maybe throw us some pics even. You might of got off to a rough start here, but i’m willing to bet if we get back to why we are here, i.e. canoeing and having an awesome time, trip reports, recipes, new products, and maybe even a bit of bathroom humor, we can revive this place into a positive mecca for those afflected with our same disease. Who’s with me? By the way, I will have to fight to the death on one matter. I do think my Bear Fart Deterrent will work, and might even deter some of those annoying friends that always seem to show up come trip time. I think it will be a win-win. LOL Here’s why I do what I do….my kids in their own boats. Santa has been good to them the last few years. lol

‘Up The Creek’ is simply a top quality, excellent book which tells how people who consider themselves expert canoeists can seriously endanger lives. The honesty in the book is it is written by one of the biggest perpetrators of crisis. No .. I didn’t write it. I think the website guy is a bit strange in his methods, but he does have some good facts and solutions. |

I was pretty sure that he was. I recognize the writing style from a troll at paddling.net. |
