The Trough is a 7 mile long river valley, that was originally discovered and named by George Washington.  The only way through the valley is either on the scenic train, The Potomac Eagle, or by canoe.  It’s a secluded area so the bald eagles and golden eagles thrive in this section.  If you are in Hampshire County, WV, then The Trough is the area to canoe.  It features steep mountains on each side with rock outcroppings, wildlife galore and beautiful scenery.
